Glen Lake revealed a few figures on its annual bullying report at a June 25 workshop meeting.

Misner reported there were zero bullying cases in elementary and high school with merely a few cases reported in middle school.

Misner noted those middle school cases were categorized as harassment.

“Remember that bullying is considered an imbalance of power, persistent and targeted behavior,” Misner said.

Two of the harassment situations involved adults and social media posts that mentioned student names that brought in various distractions to the school day.

“We have to set a better example for children,” Misner said.

Glen Lake hosts annual bullying training for all staff.

Misner relayed the trouble social media has given educators when trying to quell bullying within school walls.

“The conversation is not over,” Misner said.

A case of improper conduct happened earlier this year with a teacher.

Former Glen Lake band teacher Elijah George was arrested on three counts of surveying unclothed persons and three counts using computers to commit crimes.

George was scheduled to be on court on Monday, before it was pushed back to August 9.

Glen Lake went into closed session under Section 8K to consider security planning at the meeting. The board also approved a new communications procedure for all staff.

In other business, Glen Lake demolished its secondary office to be replaced with a secure entrance. The Lakers are also moving along with its window replacement project.
