Foundation awards nearly $30K to scholars

Graduates in Leelanau County received $29,470 in scholarships from seven funds held by the Leelanau Township Community Foundation. The 2024 awardees and scholarships are: • Daniel Lint of Suttons Bay High School, recipient of the Anson and Ruth Solem Science Scholarship.

Graduates in Leelanau County received $29,470 in scholarships from seven funds held by the Leelanau Township Community Foundation.

The 2024 awardees and scholarships are:

• Daniel Lint of Suttons Bay High School, recipient of the Anson and Ruth Solem Science Scholarship. Lint plans to attend Northwestern Michigan College in the fall.

• Mallory Lowe of Leland Public School, recipient of the Ann Schmittling Memorial Scholarship. In September, Lowe will start her freshman year at the University of Michigan.

• Dashel Courson of Northport Public School, recipient of the Florence L. A Hanes Scholarship, the Kreig Leabo Memorial Scholarship, the Winfield H. and Dr. Grace Son Line Scholarship, and the Annette Viger Taber Memorial Scholarship. In the fall, Courson will attend Northwestern Michigan College.

Scholarships from the northport Promise Fund were awarded to recent graduate, Courson, and reapplying graduates Lillian Brown, Laura Christianson, Owen Irvine, Gavino Martinelli, Emily Reynolds, Wyatt Sahs, and Sophia Stowe.
