To the editor:
Leelanau’s senior citizens make up 42% of our population. According to the 2022 census, 5.2% of our seniors live below the poverty line, existing on around $15,000 or less annually. Leelanau County Senior Services (LCSS) provides critical resources to this population, partnering with other area organizations to bring relief, provide services and build a strong support network. A millage that helps to fund LCSS is up for renewal on the August 6 primary ballot. Please VOTE YES to continue Leelanau’s long-standing community tradition of helping our less fortunate neighbors.
