Suttons Bay Superintendent Casey Petz was rated “highly effective” by the district Board of Education this month.
The board evaluated Petz in closed session and at a subsequent meeting last week, approved the evaluation.
“Based upon the Marzano domains and elements selected by the board last year for the superintendent evaluation, we are pleased to provide Mr. Petz with a rating of highly effective,” board President Chris Dejong said.
Paul Bauer from Northwest Education Services served as a facilitator for the review which included performance based on four elements. Chief among them was student achievement, which comprised 40% of the total evaluation. The superintendent was given an effective rating on this portion of the evaluation.
Other domains:
• The district leader ensures data are analyzed , interpreted, and used to regular monitor the progress toward district, school, and individual student goals.
• The district leader is transparent, communicates effectively, is recognized as a leader, and continues to demonstrate profession growth.
• The district leader uses systems and processes to manage fiscal resources and mazimizes support for schools, teachers and each student.
No other details, such as areas of success and need for improvement were not provided by the school board.
“As the superintendent evaluation is conducted in closed session, and on the advice of counsel, I am not comfortable commenting further,” Dejong said.
