Cheese Fest Saturday

Leelanau Cheese Company is celebrating Michigan-Made cheese at the third annual Cheese Fest Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Leelanau Cheese Company is celebrating Michigan-Made cheese at the third annual Cheese Fest Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 3324 S W Bay Shore Dr.

“The main focus is always highlighting cheese and dairy operations in Michigan all the way from the farm to the products,” Leelanau Cheese coowner Joshua Hall said.

Representation will feature several other dairy operations besides just Leelanau Cheese Company as far as products that are available to purchase.

“(The cheese festival) has grown every year,” Hall said. “Weather permitting, hopefully we will have a good one.”

Throughout the cheesefi lled day, events are plentiful with some free and others paid.

The cheese fest kick off with a mozerella workshop, cheese Olympics, cheese cave tours at 10 a.m.; cheese tasting 101 at 11 a.m.; chocolate & cheese paring, food truck at noon; cider & cheese pairing, kids crafts, petting zoo, face painting, and cheese market at 2:30 p.m.; cheese plate building class, kids STEM activity at 3:30 p.m.; wine & cheese pairing at 5 p.m.; and a meet the cheesemaker opportunity at 6 p.m.

Free cheese samples will be available at the festival throughout the day provided by United Dairy Industry of Michigan.
