Glen Lake Superintendent Jason Misner was rated “highly effective” followingaclosedsession Board of Education meeting last week.
“It’s been amazing both for my career and most importantly for our family, it’s been a fantastic place,” Misner said. “We are blessed to have such a great staff here at Glen Lake. We had fantastic increases in student achievement and growth academically.”
The evaluation will be presented at Glen Lake’s regular board meeting on June 10. This is Misner’s second year at the helm, and both times he’s been rated “highly effective.”
Misner’s “highly effective” rating is the highest rating for a superintendent through a review process established by the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB).
“I’ve obviously learned a lot everyday ... This community is very supportive with great people who care deeply about their children,” Misner said. “One of the coolest things (at Glen Lake) is to see kids excel both in and out of the classroom and support their passions is really cool. We see the product when they go to graduation and how much they’ve done. It is a special place and I’m proud to be a part of it.”
The Lakers are hopeful they’ve found their long term match as Misner is the fourth superintendent in four years at Glen Lake.
“(Misner) is truly a person of service and Glen Lake is fortunate to have his leadership,” Glen Lake board of Education Cory McNitt said. “His stability in year two shows student growth and curriculum improvement ... It feels good to be a Laker.”
McNitt went on to say in a statement: “His commitment to academic excellence, studentwell- being, and community engagement continues to support a positive and enriching environment for all. We are proud of Superintendent Misner’s accomplishments and look forward to continuing our journey of educational excellence under his outstanding leadership.”
Glen Lake is prepping for another summer of construction as Laker contractors will be replacing the school’s massive septic system, windows, and securing two entries of the school with enhancements.
