Members of Glen Lake’s Class of 2024 were awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships during an event May 23.
Many of these scholarships are supported by local fundraising efforts. Among them is the Glen Lake Chili Cook-Off, which doubles as a mid-winter gettogether.
Funds raised at the February event were distributed to six members of the Class of 2024 in $1,000 scholarships. The recipients are Eleanor Valkner, Ava Raymond, Paige Flores, Ella Sheffer, Dylan Cundiff and Ella Flores.
Other scholarship recipients were: Bates/Carlson Scholarship: One $500 scholarship — Colin Kasben.
Career Tech Academic Scholarship: One $500 scholarship —Valkner.
Cedar Chamber of Commerce Scholarship: Two $1,500 scholarships— Ella Flores and Sheffer.
Cedar/Maple City Lion’s Club Scholarship: Two $500 scholarships— James Blondia and Ashley Croff.
Cedar/Maple City Lion’s Club Trades Scholarship: One $500 scholarship — Wyatt Bruske.
Chief John R. DePuy Scholarship: One $500 scholarship — Tyler Brown.
Coaches Miller/Christiansen Honorary Scholarship: One $1,000 scholarship — Valkner.
Debbie Morawski Memorial Scholarship: One $500 renewable scholarship — Raymond.
Dr. Alonzo Norconk Memorial Scholarship: One $1,000 scholarship — Cooper Bufalini.
Dr. Matthew A. and Barbara A. Houghton Medical Scholarship: One $1,000 scholarship — Paige Steffke.
Drake Hendershot Memorial Boonedocks Scholarship: Two $1000.00 scholarships — Paige Flores and Kariesue Taghon.

Logan McDonough Memorial Scholarship: Two $1,000 scholarships. The recipients were Ella Flores and Paige Steffke.
Matthew R. Pleva Memorial Scholarship: One $500 scholarship. The recipient was Elodia Peplinski.
Max Miller Scholarship: One $500 scholarship — Bixby.
Melissa Dempsey Memorial Scholarship: One $650 scholarship — Skipper.
Mike DePuy Memorial Scholarship: One $500 scholarship — Bruske.
NMC Commitment Scholarship: This scholarship covers general tuition and fees at NMC for two years. The recipients were Bright and Bruske.
NMC Monon Dunn Scholarship: One $1,100 scholarship — Bruske.
NMC Oleson Foundation Scholarship: One $1,000 scholarship — Brown.
NMC Pickering Scholarship: One $1,000 scholarship — Ella Flores.
