To the editor:
We are five months out from the November election and only two months out from our Michigan August primary. Unfortunately, there is too much conversation at the national, state, and local levels about the integrity of the upcoming elections.
Some candidates are indicating they will accept election results only if it favors them. Others are questioning the caliber of officials and workers who run the elections.
This is a dangerous dialog since it undermines a 250-year tradition that the U.S. has free and fair elections.
Examine how elections are run in Leelanau County and replicate this across the country. Those who question our process undermine democracy and have spurious motives. Call our clerk, Michelle Crocker, and get the truth!
