It was kind of tough celebrating Memorial Day this year. The weather at this time year is always a crap shoot and this year it was wet and gloomy. However, I’m sure everyone had a good time with company and many, many people up here now getting ready for the summer. Memorial Day, formally known as Decoration Day is held in remembrance of those men and women that gave their lives fighting for our country and our country’s values.
It feels like there are more people here and sooner this year.
Next day to fly the flag, unless you fly it every day which would be tremendous, would be on June 6 which is D-Day, anniversary of the Normandy landings. The landing operations and associated airborne operation on June 6 ,1944 was code named “operation Neptune” and often referred to as D-Day the largest seaborne invasion in history resulted in an Allied victory It appears as though the tennis courts are back in shape and none too soon for all the tennis players coming out for the summer and also the pickle ball players our Park is ready for everything and is in good shape.
There is still time to enjoy a Spring Chamber Event at the M22 Wine Patio at 5 to 7 p.m., May 30 and also plenty of time to get ready for the annual Empire Asparagus Festival June 1, always a great time always well attended and taste buds get ready.
Get well wishes to Bill Bolton and to Linda Payment, we hope all is going well for both.

Ronald Reagan said “Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves” Be happy, be kind, be safe and if you’ve worn shorts and a jacket at the same time you may live or be visiting Michigan. Have fun.
