Over 300 people attended the Leelanau Community Read event with New York Times best selling author William Kent Krueger Saturday at the Northport Performing Arts Center.

The Leelanau Community Read was organized by the Leelanau County public libraries as a shared literary experience for all county residents over four years ago as an annual event.

Saturday night’s program was by far the most ambitious and well attended of the entire series.

Kent Kruger is the author of over 20 novels, including the popular Cork O’Conner mystery series, with the Community Read focusing on his latest stand alone novel, “The River We Remember”.

Kent was interviewed by local author Aaron Stander, author of the Ray Elkins thriller series which is based in and around Leelanau County and northwest Michigan.

The county librarians wish to thank Kent Krueger for being so generous with his time, and his tremendous support of libraries. We also want to thank the four Friends of the Library organizations whose support was instrumental in bringing Kent to Northport for this event.
