The Northwest Education Services released its 2023-24 education summary revealed at the Glen Lake Board of Education meeting this week.
Out of 707 students attending Glen Lake this school year in 2023-24, 34.2% are economically disadvantaged; 12.3% have a disability; and nearly 90% of students have graduated in four years in 2022-23, according to the summary.
In career and technical education, 25 students enrolled with 10 earning job shadow or co-op experiences and internships. All transportation was covered to the career tech campus in Traverse City, according to the report. Five students enrolled in North Ed Early College and one unnamed student earned an associate’s degree.
According to statistics in the report, Early Childhood has 15 birth-to-5 evaluation rates and had 16 enrolled in GSRP and Strong Beginnings.
Instructional support from Ed Northwest featured 130 hours of instructional support through support services; REMC saved $97,201; 45 completed the Marzano instructional framework; four K-12 migrant students served; nine K-12 English learners served.
In total, Glen Lake ranked seventh; Suttons Bay eighth; and Leland 13th in school size out 16 northwest Michigan school districts.
Ed Northwest’s total budget for general education is 22,107,921 with special education coming in at $71,197, 732, and vocational education at $13,718,091.
Regional investment to Ed Northwest topped $7.15 million in free preschool programming and served 706 students across the northwest Michigan area.
Over 60% of Ed Northwest funding comes from state sources and nearly 19% comes from local sources.
