The Bay Community Theatre in Suttons Bay will launch the annual celebration of Made-In-Michigan films Sunday at 4 p.m.
The Made-In-Michigan series is a unique focus of The Bay Theatre that highlights the great filmmaking going on in our state and many times affords attendees the opportunity to engage in-person with the creative personalities involved.
The series begins with a “bromantic” comedy entitled “Quicksand.” Filmed in the Traverse City region, Grand Rapids and parts of the Upper Peninsula, Quicksand is about best friends Ray and Paul, cobest men in their buddy’s wedding who lose the wedding ring just days before the ceremony. Their quest to retrieve it turns into an exploration of life, love — and how to not die.
This laugh-out-loud comedy is the winner of Best Feature Film at Eau Claire International, and the audience choice for best feature at both Hell’s Half Mile Film Festival and the Soo Film Festival, and best screenplay at the Grand Rapids Film Festival.
The event will conclude with a question and answer session with the filmmakers.
Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased at the door or online at thebaytheatre.com under “Schedule and Tickets.”
More Made-In-Michigan films are scheduled for May 19 and June 23.
