To the editor:
Sheriff Borkovich calls people who disagree with him and express those opinions via our First Amendment rights, haters? Is that right?
Many residents were upset that he appeared with Trump, in uniform, tacitly endorsing his violent rhetoric aimed at immigrants, representing Leelanau County.
A real leader, would give a more thoughtful response to this criticism. He was there, in his official capacity. Attending a “meeting” isn’t the same as standing behind a candidate for a press conference. It would go a long way, if he just acknowledged it, rather than gaslighting with excuses.
