The Leelanau Children’s Center is looking for committed, energetic and passionate community members to serve as board leaders, committee participants and operational supporters. Since 1976, the Leelanau Children’s Center has provided quality early childhood education and community connection to the families of Leelanau County.
“Having volunteers that represents a broad range of skill sets and community experiences is critical to an organization’s overall ability to think strategically and plan sustainably for the future,” said Rita Wessels, board president. “Anyone who is passionate about working with children and wants to make a difference in the course of children’s lives should consider joining us,” she said.
LCC is proud to be a model organization, consistently receiving the highest quality rating from the MI Dept. of Education for its unique programming which melds the benefi ts of a child-led, play-based curriculum, locally focused, family-style meals, a dedicated staff and the importance of building meaningful family partnerships. At LCC, all children belong and are inspired to become engaged learners and compassionate citizens. Creating an inclusive community and positive relationships is the foundation of the center.
“We believe the most meaningful way to make a difference in life is through the support and development of our children, particularly children in their earliest years,” said Kim Boose, Mission Chair of the Leelanau Children’s Center. “We can improve overall health, improve school performance, improve relationships, and improve our economy together. We can accomplish this by committing our time to help the youngest of our community.”
