To the editor:
We were dismayed to see sheriff Mike Borkovich standing next to former President Trump at the rally in Grand Rapids. Leelanau County supported President Joe Biden in the last election.
The Grand Rapids meeting concerned border issues which would have been resolved with the passage of a bipartisan bill which Mr. Trump rejected.
Our sheriff needs to be reminded that he was elected to uphold the law and protect the people of this county. This does not fit with an appearance in Grand Rapids with a man who fomented an insurrection.
