To the editor:
We wish to honor Tom Kalber, the heart of Northport and Suttons Bay Tai Chi. For years, he volunteered countless hours to teach and coach Tai Chi, promoting its health benefits, a gateway to deeper levels of awareness, and origin in the martial arts. His always patient teaching, humor, and gentle corrections made everyone feel welcome. Although we are saddened that Tom is leaving Northport for family in California, we offer nothing but heartfelt thanks and good wishes for this new phase of life, even as we mourn losing him as our “Sifu.” Our Tai Chi communities will live on.
