ShareCare of Leelanau was awarded $4,000 to open a Memory Cafe in Suttons Bay to support local families navigating the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Michigan was awarded $5,000 to fund an academic tutoring program for students in Grand Traverse County.
The Women’s Resource will use its $6,000 to help meet current needs at Helen’s House emergency shelter.
In this first quarter of 2024, the Cherryland Cares program awarded $15,000 in grant funding to local non-profits. The program began in 2006 and has since given a total of $769,146.60 in grant funding to programs that support our local community.
Cherryland Cares is a charitable fund overseen by a group of five volunteer Cherryland Electric Cooperative members who review grant applications and allocate money to non-profit organizations seeking assistance. Cherryland Cares is funded by members electing to round up their monthly electric bill to the nearest dollar.
