The field of candidates for election in Leelanau County is growing slowly.
Prosecutor Joseph T. Hubbell filed as a Republican Tuesday to the Aug. 6 Primary election. His is the latest filing among incumbents seeking reelection.
Sheriff Mike Borkovich filed his paperwork last week; John A. Gallagher III, is seeking the Republican nomination for the county treasurer’s post; and Jennifer Grant, for register of deeds.
County Clerk Michelle Crocker filed her paperwork in January.
Two candidates have filed as candidates to represent the District 6 commissioner district: incumbent Gwenne Algaier and newcomer Mark Roberts, Algaier filed for the Democratic nomination; Roberts, the Republican. District 6 is composed of Cleveland, Empire and Glen Arbor townships.
Other filings for county commissioners are Steve Yoder, District 7 and Ty Wessell, District 4.
Harry Steffens, who filed as a Republican candidate for the District 5 commissioner seat, has since withdrawn.
Candidates for other offices include Steven Paciorka, on the non-partisan ballot. He is seeking the Probate Court seat which currently belongs to Marian Kromkowski, who will be aged out.
Timothy P. O’Non is a candidate for drain commissioner and Garth Greenan, county road commission.
The deadline to file as candidates for the August Primary is 4 p.m., April 24.
