Chili cook-off, Easter events in GL area

It always happens this time of year, days get longer, the sun is out more, and don’t forget on Sunday, spring forward. This is the time we can look forward to the “Ides of March”, which was said to beware, however I just look forward to summer and have some fun.

Good luck to the Glen Lake School Mens basketball team, they deserve a lot of credit and unfortunately the next game is after I write this little ditty. The guys are doing great, hopefully they will continue.

Quite a few things going on at this time, one being a St. Patty’s event sponsored by the Empire Area Community Center, “Rigs and Jeels” with Katie O’Connell. Sunday, March 17th at the Little Traverse Inn.

Don’t forget another Chili Cook-off, Saturday, March 23rd at the Empire Townhall from 1:00pm until 3:00pm. This chili cook-off will benefit the Empire Area Food Pantry and Paper Pantry, sponsored by the Empire United Methodist Church and also supported by the Empire Area Community Center. We can’t get enough chili.

With Easter coming, always look forward to the Community Easter Egg Hunt which will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 30th at Lions Club Park, a.k.a. Johnson Park in Empire.

Also coming is the Community Easter Dinner which will be held on Sunday, March 31st, (Easter) from noon until 2:00 p.m. This free Easter Dinner is held at the United Methodist Church in Empire and also benefi ts the Empire Area Paper Pantry and sponsored also by the Empire Area Community Center. I will put a short reminder again next week for those of you with a memory like mine.

Happy Birthday wishes to: Jan Semple, Raquel Jackson, Andrew Jackson and James Madison.

Happy Anniversary wishes to Jan and Bob Marth.

A classic political quote from Bob Inglis, “Asking an incumbent member of congress to vote for term limits is a bit like asking a chicken to vote for Colonel Sanders.”

Be Happy, be safe, be honest with yourself.

Thanks to all of you that voted.

Go Patriotism.
