Empire Area Community Center (EACC) held it’s 2024 annual meeting in February at the Glen Lake Community Library in Empire.
The Emergency Fund is administered by non-profit EACC. They reported they were able to pay bills for people who had fallen upon hard time in the community in the amount of $22,369.04, helping 14 families get over that little bump in the road returning them to sustainability.
In addition to administering and being the fiduciary for the Emergency Fund, the Community center is proud to have sponsored many community activities such as Halloween Trunk or Treat, Artisan Marketplace, Holiday Pot Luck, Anchor Days Parade, Street Dance, and Labor Day Bridge Walk. Many local community activities such as exercise classes, Yoga, and Empire Wine and Garden Club are sponsored by EACC.
Election of officers for president and secretary took place at this meeting. The decision to elect Gerry Shiffman as president and Meg Walton as secretary was unanimous. Both positions are a two year term.
This non-profit organization is eternally grateful to all the individuals and businesses that supported our efforts to accomplish our mission since our inception and throughout 2023. We look forward to continuing this work in 2024.
Always keep in mind that any money donated to the Emergency Fund is only used to help people in our area who have fallen upon hard times. All other expenses are paid for from the Community Center’s General Fund, also making it a very worthy cause for receiving donations. Therefore you may donate to either fund.
