Three percent across-theboard raises were included in salary resolutions adopted last week by the Suttons Bay Township Board.

The board approved the raises as part of the regular monthly meeting Feb. 14.

In many townships, the salary resolutions are part of the annual meeting of township inhabitants held during the month of March. However, Suttons Bay Township no longer holds an annual gathering.

Instead, the board approves the resolutions which are figured into the budget for the coming fiscal year, which begins April 1.

As proposed, the township supervisor’s compensation would go from $19,478 to $20,100. The clerk’s compensation will increase from $30,658 to $31,639; treasurer, from $31,051 to $32,044.80. A $53 raise is in store for the township’s two trustees which would bring their year’s pay to $1,729.

The total proposed raises for the township is just over $2,700. Salaries are in addition to pension.

In other business during the meeting board members:

• Received a Pavement Surface Evaluation and Rating (PASER) report from the Leelanau County Road Commission. According to a pie chart in the report, 55% of Suttons Bay Township’s paved local roads are in fair condition, 32% are in good condition, and 13% are in poor condition.

• Appointed Bill Sterrett, a retired Department of Natural Resources forest manager currently living in the township, to the township parks and recreation committee for a three-year term ending in December 2026.

• Adopted a five-year update to the 2023 Leelanau County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan. The township previously adopted the 2016 Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan in July 2015, and had committed to participating in the update of the plan no less than once every five years.
