The 10th annual Brian Nachazel Snowball Tournament was held in Cedar on Saturday as dozens of people descended on the bare softball fields for a unusually warm tournament.

Despite the tournament having only five teams, the event raised roughly $26,000 that will help four local families dealing with hardship. The tournament has raised nearly $190,000 in the 10 years the fundraiser has been in existence. In 2023, nearly $27,000 was raised.

“(This tournament) really keep’s Brian’s memory alive,” Rebecca said.

Nachazel, a Leland graduate of 2000, was 31 when he passed away unexpectedly after a car accident. The community honors Nachazel while raising money for a good cause through a softball tournament, which was one of his favorite outdoor activities.
