The annual Winterfest Chili Cook-off in Glen Arbor was its normal success, it was cold and sunny, everyone, as usual had a great time.
We had 18 entries this year and the winners were Glen Lake School, first; Boonedocks, second; The Mill in Glen Arbor, third; Hansen Foods of Suttons Bay and Bear Paw Market tied for fourth, and Shipwreck Café Empire and Good Harbor Grill tied in fifth.
All in all a great time and great chili and will do it again next year. Many thanks go to Boonedocks for the use of their deck and Bob and Stephanie Ewing for the work putting it together. As always well appreciated, and as an aside, the music was outstanding as always those guys are fun.
The fishing contest wasn’t very successful. There were no fish.
I hope everyone put out the flag last Monday, Presidents’ Day . Honor the presidents no matter who you voted for by proudly flying the United States flag.
Happy Birthday wishes to Teresa Woods, Irene Maher, Lance Roman, Tom Lauretto, Jody Dodson, Jim Fowler, Carol Hilton, and to friends, twins Judy and Nancy Bathke. Also not to be forgotten George Washington, sometimes remembered in schools.
